Newsletter Term 1 Week 9, 2025
Principal's Report

Dear Community,
Last Week I had the pleasure of accompanying the Year 5/6 students on school camp at Kokoda Park. I was very impressed by the way the students conducted themselves throughout the week. Every single student had a go at every activity and there were so many examples of students being Corageous Corella's, Persistent Parakeet's, Respectful Rosella's and Welcoming Wagtails. The way the students encouraged and supported each other in some challenging activities was wonderful to see. The fact that they all wanted each other to succeed, filled me with so much pride. The camp instructors commented on how well behaved the students were and how willing and eager they were to participated.
This week there was great excitement in our school community as we announced our school musical for this year - Moana Jr. I encourage every student in Years 3-6 to audition for a lead role in the musical. Musicals are a great way for students to build confidence, teamwork, resilience and to learn new skills and be part of something exciting. They are a great way for students to step outside of their comfort zone and push themselves to try something new. I can't wait for this show to come together over the next few terms.
We congratulate our students for their participation in the NAPLAN testing. They have shown resilience, confidence and enthusiasm. We appreciate your support and encouragement at home, and our teachers and staff who have prepared the students well.
NAPLAN measures our students’ progress and achievements in literacy and numeracy. It also gives us data to identify areas of strength and development for our school and students. We look forward to celebrating our results and using the data to target our teaching and learning.
Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education.
Parent Teacher Interviews will take place at the beginning of next term, on the Pupil Free Day. As Miss Ailie Lewis will be away on Long Service Leave at this time, Prep/1 interviews will be conducted at a later date. All interviews can be booked on the Sentral Parent Portal from the beginning of next week.
As the term draws to a close, I want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. I look forward to seeing everyone back in Term 2.
God Bless,
Michelle
From the APRE
Last week we celebrated the feast of St Joseph, capably lead by our Year 3/4 students. St Joseph was a kind and humble man who was a true servant to others. He listened to the whisperings of God in his heart and did what needed to be done. He is a great example for our students.
Our Mini Vinnies Club has been working hard over the Lenten period to raise much needed funds for those less fortunate than us in communities around the world. So far they have raised over $500, which is enough to install drinking taps or a toilet in schools in Samoa. We thank you all for your participation in our events and for all the money you have helped raised.
Next Friday, we will share in our Easter liturgy. Each class will have a part in the liturgy and tell the story of Easter through story and song. We welcome everyone to come along and share in our Easter Liturgy with us.
If any families have money in their donation boxes at home, please return before the end of term.
