Principal's Report

Dear Community,

Welcome to the new school year.  We welcome all of our returning students and families, we are excited to have you back as part of our St Joseph's school community once again.  A big welcome to our new staff - Miss Jessica Brierley and Miss Ailie Lewis and also to our new prep students and new families - we are looking forward to getting to know you as the year goes on.

On Friday night, we had our first event for the year - our Welcome BBQ and Meet the Teacher Night.  It was wonderful to see so many families in attendance.  I hope that you all enjoyed the evening.  Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped in the canteen and cooking the BBQ, we appreciate your efforts.  On Friday night, I also shared our school goals for this year.  These are attached below for your reference.  This is what our school will be focusing on and working towards this year.  If you have any questions about this, please feel free to come and have a chat.

This year, we also celebrate a Jubilee year in the Church with the theme being 'Pilgrims of Hope.' Pope Francis reminds us that hope does not disappoint.  He emphasises that hope dwells in us all as the expectation of good things to come, even though we do not know what the future holds.  As we move forward in our mission to be people who are servants to each other, we must consider how we will fan the flame of hope for others.

As we begin 2025 together, my prayer for our community is that we embrace the notion of 'Being a servant' and that we know we all have the ability to make a difference because kindness really is our superpower.

God Bless,

Michelle

From the APRE

Welcome back to 2025.  Today we celebrated our Opening Mass and Induction of our Year 6 leaders.

Our theme for this year is: 'Be a Servant'

As Christians, we are called to look to the needs of others first, called to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world. Just as saints of the past were examples of justice, compassion and love, we can be modern saints ready to reach out to others with kindness and tenderness. Let us be inspired by saints like Mary MacKillop who did rise up to the challenges before them and who didn’t hold back, continuing to live lives of service and generosity because they knew that service was the best sacrifice they could make.

We look forward to a year where we can be servants to each other, treating each other with compassion and looking out for those around us, keeping a keen eye to the needs of others and assisting them when needed.

Congratulations to our Year 6 leaders who will guide the students of St Joseph's by their servant leadership this year.  We wish you all the best on your leadership journey this year.
